Chennai:These days, the moment a film is successful at the box office, rumours of it being remade in other languages begin to do the rounds. But this one, regarding the Telugu remake of the Atharvaa-starrer, Kanithan, has now been confirmed. Director TN Santhosh has said that the remake will have Ravi Teja playing the lead. Teja, says the director, watched the movie a few days ago, and was so impressed with it, that he gave the go ahead for this project.Says Santhosh, “I have just come back from Hyderabad — I had gone to discuss Kanithan’s Telugu remake, and am happy that Teja has given his nod to my film though he had two other films in the pipeline. When I suggested he start the remake first, he agreed to it. If everything goes well, the film will go on the floors soon. The rest of the cast will now be decided. The remake will be trimmed, but made on a bigger scale. There will be slight changes to suit the nativity of the audiences in Andhra.” Santhosh had initially planned to make Kanithan as a bilingual with Allu Arjun in the lead, but that didn’t materialise as the star was busy with other assignments. There are talks regarding the film’s Hindi remake as well. However, Santhosh says those discussions are in the initial stages at the moment.
