Andhra Pradesh requires Special Status: BJP leader Purandeswari
In Andhra Pradesh, BJP Mahila Morcha Vice-Chairperson and former Union Minister D. Purandeswari said that Andhra Pradesh requires the Special Status category along with Special package. However, with certain difficulties cropping up, Special Status cannot be expected at present, she said. Addressing the media in Vijayawada, she said the Central government is making sure to provide the requirements for the state in a phased manner and BJP is moving forward with ‘Sabke Saath-Sabaka Vikash’ principle. She said the Centre has already assured that it will implement the AP reorganization Act in letter and spirit. She reminded that over a period of 16 months the Centre has sanctioned 11 elite institutes and provided funds to the tune of Rs. 7,500 crore for various developmental projects. She reiterated that the Centre will complete the Polavaram project.
