The Indian community in California is all set to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a grand reception at the SAP Center in Silicon Valley.An indoor arena in the heart of Silicon Valley, the SAP Centre has a seating capacity of 18,000, which the organisers said would be full to its capacity, given the enthusiasm among the Indian diaspora. Nearly 45, 000 applications were received for the event.Those attending the event will have to go through a security screening which organisers claim is tighter than that of an airport.Before Mr. Modi’s address, a cultural evening has been planned with performances from local Indian-Americans. Bollywood playback singer Kailash Kher is also scheduled to perform.
Mr. Modi will address the gathering at 7.30 am IS.
